L. Blair Thrush, Jr. M.D.

Dr. Thrush received his medical education at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Dr. Thrush received his fellowship in allergy and immunology while serving in the Army at the Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington D.C. He is board certified in internal medicine, as well as allergy and immunology. Dr. Thrush, a native West Virginian, has been licensed to practice medicine in West Virginia since 1979. Before going into private practice in Charleston, West Virginia in 1982, Dr. Thrush was an associate professor and chief of allergy at West Virginia University. He is a clinical professor with the WVU Medical Center. Dr. Thrush resides with his wife in the Charleston area.

James P. Clark, II, M.D.

Dr. Clark received his undergraduate degree from West Virginia University and his medical degree from the Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, West Virginia. He completed his internal medicine residency at the Charleston Division of West Virginia University at Charleston Area Medical Center. He received his Allergy and Immunology fellowship training from the University of Tennessee in Memphis. Dr. Clark, also a native of West Virginia from the St. Albans area, is board certified in internal medicine and allergy and immunology, and joined our practice in 1996. He has been an associate clinical professor at the WVU School of Medicine since 1999. Dr. Clark and his wife live in Charleston area with their five children.

Sandra J. Wotring, R.N., M.S.N. (Nurse Practitioner)

Sandy has been with our practice since 1982. She received her undergraduate degree from West Virginia University and her masters degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She has been our nurse practitioner since 1990. She is originally from West Virginia, and also does volunteer work at the Health Right Asthma Clinic in Charleston.

What is An Allergist?

An allergist is a physician specially trained to diagnose, manage and treat allergies, asthma and other related conditions.  After medical school allergists receive several additional years of training.  Board certified allergists have completed all of the advanced training, including an allergy fellowship, and are the best-qualified to effectively determine what is causing the problem and how to best solve it.

What is a Nurse Practitioner?

A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse (RN) who has advanced education (a masters degree) and clinical training in a medical specialty area. As advanced practice nurses, they provide nursing and medical services to patients, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention, as well as the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases.
